1. About These Terms
CPA Ethics Online is operated by Allison M. McLeod, LL.M., CPA, A PLLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These terms apply to use of our website and purchases of our online courses.
By using this website or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or purchase a course.
Our website and course materials provide educational information. They do not establish an attorney-client or accountant-client relationship and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional about your specific circumstances.
2. Your Account
Provide accurate account, billing and professional license information and keep it up to date. Your name should match the name you want recorded on your course completion certificate and, when applicable, your licensing records.
Keep your login credentials confidential. Course enrollment is for the individual learner associated with the account. Do not share your account or allow another person to complete course activities or assessments on your behalf.
Contact us if you believe someone has accessed your account without authorization.
3. Purchases and Course Access
Prices and course details are shown on the relevant product page. Payment must be successfully processed before paid course access is provided.
Standard course access is available for 12 months from the start of the purchased enrollment. Your enrollment’s access expiration date is shown in your account.
[Insert the approved rule for courses with an annual edition expiration, including Virginia and Washington, before publication.]
Purchasing the same course again creates a new enrollment and replaces the previous enrollment’s current access. Previously recorded course history is retained. A new enrollment begins with fresh course progress.
Course access expiration is separate from your professional licensing or reporting deadline. You are responsible for completing the course within the applicable deadlines.
4. Course Requirements, Assessments and Certificates
Complete the required materials, activities, assessments and evaluation for your course to receive a completion certificate. Requirements, passing scores and assessment instructions are provided within the course.
The final assessment permits one attempt per enrollment. If you do not achieve the required passing score, you must purchase a new enrollment to take the final assessment again.
Purchasing a course does not by itself earn CPE credit or a certificate. Completion records reflect the date you complete the required course evaluation after satisfying the other course requirements; they do not use the purchase date.
Review the course description, jurisdiction, edition and approval information before purchasing. You are responsible for confirming that a course is appropriate for your licensing and reporting requirements.
5. Refunds
Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Refunds may be approved for courses that have not been started. If you have already started a course and believe there are circumstances that warrant a refund, contact us for review.
Email admin@cpaethicsonline.com with your name, account email address, order number, course name and reason for the request.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, and access to the refunded course is removed. The time it takes for the refund to appear depends on the payment provider or financial institution.
See our Refund Policy for the full request process.
6. Permitted Use of Materials
We grant you a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access your purchased course and to download and print its provided materials for your own study and personal professional reference. This is a license to use the materials, not a transfer of ownership.
Unless we give written permission, you may not:
- Share, sell, redistribute or publicly post course materials, assessment questions or answer keys.
- Use the materials to teach or provide a competing course or service.
- Remove copyright or other proprietary notices.
- Modify materials for redistribution or represent them as your own work.
- Mirror the website or its materials on another server.
- Attempt to decompile or reverse engineer software supplied through the website, except where applicable law permits it.
You may retain lawfully downloaded study materials and your own certificates for personal reference after course access ends. This does not extend online course access or authorize redistribution.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Unauthorized copies and uses must cease when permission is withdrawn because of a violation.
7. Website Availability and Technical Support
Access may occasionally be interrupted by maintenance, hosting issues or third-party service outages. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Contact us promptly if a technical problem prevents you from accessing or completing a course. Include your username or account email, course name and a description of the problem. Do not send your password or full payment card details.
8. Educational Information and Disclaimers
Course and website information may include errors and may be affected by changes in laws, regulations or professional guidance. Verify current requirements with the appropriate authority when applying the information to a specific situation.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, website and course materials are provided “as is,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, or overrides an express commitment in the course description or these terms.
9. Limitations of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Allison M. McLeod, LL.M., CPA, A PLLC and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of data, profit or business, arising from use of or inability to use the website or course materials.
This provision does not exclude or limit liability or consumer rights where applicable law does not permit that exclusion or limitation.
10. Third-Party Services and Links
The website uses third-party services, including payment processing and video hosting, and may link to other websites. Their services are subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
A link to another website does not imply endorsement. We are not responsible for the content of external websites that we do not operate.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle account information, purchases, course records and other personal information.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms and will identify the effective date on this page. Updated terms apply to future use and purchases. Changes will not retroactively shorten a purchased enrollment or remove rights attached to an existing purchase without an applicable legal basis or your agreement.
13. Governing Law
These terms and claims relating to this website are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions, except where applicable law requires otherwise. These terms do not remove mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
14. Contact
